Shopify cart drawer not updating after Add to Cart

Problem

Customers click “Add to cart” but the cart drawer doesn’t refresh (or shows old items). Sometimes the button spins forever, especially after installing a new app or theme update.

Solution

• Check for app conflicts (cart upsell, shipping protection, bundles). Temporarily disable suspicious apps and re-test.
• Verify the theme’s cart update script (often a fetch to /cart/add.js then /cart.js). If your theme uses a custom change.js, ensure events are fired correctly.
• Confirm you are not blocking Shopify AJAX requests via CSP, ad-block scripts, or Cloudflare settings.
• If using a cart drawer component, ensure it re-renders from fresh /cart.js data and isn’t caching state across page transitions.
